Jennifer Hartzell

Youth Program Coordinator

Jennifer has two decades of experience in youth development, building spaces for young people to reflect on, interrogate, and forge their unique directions. She finds most joy in supporting others in their relationship to their health and to green spaces at home and in their neighborhoods, leading and supporting local initiatives as well as developing and contributing to youth programs in gardens, parks, classrooms, and community centers. A committed gardener herself, she loves talking to people about the practical and mutually beneficial use of local spaces.

Jennifer graduated with an M.A. in Social Enterprise from American University—focused on innovative approaches to educational contexts—and with a B.A. in Anthropology from Yale University.
